History

In the spring of 1988, Bob McGee, Jackie South, Harold Thompson, Dennis Robinson and Muriel McCallum visited the Lambton County Board of Education [now known as the Lambton-Kent District School Board] offices .  Moore Agricultural Society wanted to make the fair and educational experience for students. Until 2019 Brigden Fair offered a “free” program to Primary Grades 2-3 and Junior Grades 4-5-6 from schools in the Lambton County area. Students would join us for a day program, which included ‘hands on’ activities exploring topics on animals, crops and changing technology. The program was developed to fit the science and social studies units of the current school curriculum while teaching how important agriculture is in our daily lives.

In 2022 the local school boards began having a “PD” day meaning that the classes would no longer be attending the “Ag In The Classroom” days, however the Brigden Fair decided to continue operating the program for kids and parents alike to learn about agriculture in our lives and enjoy the fair together.
