The Moore Agricultural Society Board of Directors have chosen Dorthy Little as the 2006 recipient of the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies Service Award.
Dorthy grew up in Moore Township and married Elgin “Bud” Little in 1940. They raised their 12 children on Oil Springs Line in St. Clair Township. Both dedicated many hours as volunteers at the Brigden Fair. Bud passed away in 1998.
In 1982, Dorthy’s neighbour Lorene Sharp invited her to become an associate Homecraft member. Since then, Dorthy could be found every year assisting with Class 14 – Creative Needlecraft division. She didn’t stop there.
She volunteered numerous hours in the fair kitchen and year round at dinners and banquets served in the exhibition hall. Dorthy held the position of Homecraft president during the 1987 and 1988 fairs.
After 24 years of fellowship and active volunteering, Dorthy decided to resign from Class 14 in 2000. She has not quit helping. She just taken a less strenuous position of selling Homecraft tickets.
So take the time to thank her for her years of service and congratulate her on her award.
Dorthy passed away in 2012. See her obituary at steadmanbrothers.ca
